Kaori Yuki has outdone herself in the finale of the Gothic horror Godchild. This final volume holds the last of the cards, the last secrets to be revealed and the ultimate outcome of the Hargreaves. Cain races to the Tower to confront Riff and end the battle with his father once and for all. But the Cardmaster has put into motion a shocking plan, his true aims at last revealed. What happens here in these pages will shock and astonish readers. The author uses every panel, every second of the story as a moment of dark revelations.
Absolutely everything gets answered in this final volume of Godchild. Who lives, who dies, and the true desires of each of the members upon the board of this Machiavellian chess game are unveiled. The confrontation between Cain and Riff, the fate of Mary Weather, Jizabel, and most apprehensively, the last duel between father and son are at hand. It is not only their fate, but that of London and all of humanity which hang in the balance depending on if Cain can defeat the great evil rising. And the true face of that evil will shock readers.
Many things fans have come to know and believe about the characters in this story, about the story itself, will be shown in a new and startling light. The final chapters hold many momentous surprises both devastating and fascinating. It gives a whole new perspective to the entire series. Many fans may find themselves after reading this, going back to look through and read the earlier volumes to hunt out the clues that hinted at the terrible truth hidden before Cain and us, the readers. It’s storytelling at its finest in manga.
