In 2015 half the population of the Earth is deceased, the rest exist in the second impact, and a disaster after the Millennium, the rest was a meteor attack in Antarctica. The Angels were also the reason for the cataclysm and so the enemy of the remaining humans. It is only the bio-engineered vessels called Evangelion that are piloted by human children and their only weapon to defend Earth no matter what. Once Shinji Ikari realises he is the one to pilot the Evangelion, he knows all eyes are on him to make his first outing a success.

Written and Directed by Annio who also directed Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cutie Honey, character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto of Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL and The Girl Who Leapt through Time plus mechanical designs by Ikato Yamashita who drew concepts for Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster, and Blue Submarine 6. This is a feature-length presentation that delivers what it promises.

It is the first part of a four part project that brought everyone 'mecha' right from the start. With a fabulous new story and CG graphics it also comes with extended footage never seen before by a UK audience.

The animation is a great achievement in itself, a work of art to those who enjoy the more shonen end of the anime spectrum, the mecha, dogfights and fierce combat these are well known for.

EXTRAS:
Bonus material in this title consists of the DVD and Trailers of upcoming anime titles in the Manga Entertainment range.

IN SUMMARY:
Evangelion is clearly one of the most exciting anime releases to come to these shores this year – brilliant!
