Interview by Alysia "A-list" Mazzella

Ke$ha! Ke$ha! Ke$ha! You may remember her song, "Boots and Boys" featured on our first issue, or maybe you recognize her voice from the chorus on Flo Rida's hit single, "Right Round," either way Ke$ha is bringing the sweetest attitude and some killer creativity to your ears. Every beat is loud and fun, every word is hard-hitting. Your feet start tapping, your butt starts swinging and all of the sudden- you're dancing! You can't knock her, you can't front on her, all you can do is bop your head. Feel the beat with Ke$ha.

21-7: What's goin' on? How are you doing?
Ke$ha: In Sweden writing pop songs and looking for Narwhals!

21-7: Good! Let's get into it. Your birthday just passed on March 1st, how old did you turn?
K: Just turned 22. I was sick on my birthday so I need to make up for it, but gotta Bedazzler. I'm going to bedazzle ev-ery-thing.

21-7: So you didn't you party like a rockstar?
K: [laughs] Nope, I partied in a bed with my mom. That sounds wierd. I layed in bed and she sat there and listened to me whine like a little bitch and made me tea. Wooo! [laughs]

21-7: Where are you currently living?
K: Everywhere kinda. I got an apartment in a treehouse/castle hybrid in Los Angeles in Laurel Canyon though at the moment. That's where I get my Bedazzler accessories sent to.

21-7: Like it there?
K: Love my treehouse but Hollywood can blow sometimes, people are strange.

21-7: What does the dollar sign in your name represent?
K: Well the money sign I think is more of a joke because I've been so broke for so long I thought I could at least bling out my name. I am definitely not at all about money. I think its kind of silly really, that paper controls the whole world. But it's more just to come off like a baller [laughs] because I'm such a pimp and all.

21-7: Where can we find Ke$ha on a Friday night?
K: If im not in my treehouse, I might be playing dodgeball followed by karaoke and proceeding from there you might find me on a couch or in a front yard or crashing lame parties to liven it up a bit. Or maybe I'll just be makin out with my main squeeze of the moment.

21-7: What about a Wednesday morning?
K: [laughs] Prolly in the ocean or in Sweeden. I was in the ocean 2 Wednesdays ago. Last Wednesday morning I was in Sweeden.

21-7: You said that your music sounds like "god having an orgasm," can you expand on that a bit?
K: It's a release. A release for people, or gods, or trannys or kids or old dudes or freaks or sluts or hipsters or dorks. And I hope it can compare to an orgasm!

21-7: We don't want to put you in a box, so if you could create your own genre to define your music, what would it be called?
K: Trash-glam-pop-electro

21-7: Nice. Your music is inspired by an eclectic mix of artists- Frank Black, Madonna, Afrika Bombaata, Janet Jackson, Al Green, Daft Punk, MIA, Peter Bjorn, Public Enemy- who caused you to be so musically open-minded?
K: My brother told me to steal his records and listen to them when I was about 12. Then I realized my "Now 23" compilation didn't compare to the rowdyness of Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr. or The Beastie Boys. That's also when I realized that sometimes you gotta fight for your right to party.

21-7: How did you and Flo Rida hook up for "Right Round"?
K: I was in the studio with Dr. Luke, the producer of the track, and Flo was like, "We need an ill chick on this hook" and I jumped in, he loved, and we ended up doing three songs together. Two of which are on his record, the other one is called, "Touch Me."

21-7: What was your reaction when you first heard it on the radio?
K: I screamed. Turned my speakers up all the way 'til the blew out. Laughed, then started crying like a little bitch.

21-7: I would be emotional too. Your beats are super official! Where do you get 'em from?
K: Anyone who is ill. I've worked with a lot of big name producers and some people I meet walking down the street that have an ill vibe. A name doesn't matter, it's the quality and energy.

21-7: Who produces your music?
K: Alot of people. Dr. Luke, David Gamson, Benny Blanco, Toby Gad, Greg Wells, myself sometimes.

21-7: Can we expect an official album/mixtape from you?
K: Hell yeah, this year I'm hoping!

21-7: We think it should be entitled Ke$ha does this shit 21-7! Just kidding- but seriously, do you have any idea of what your going to call your first album?
K: Some ideas, but no official title yet. It might be called, "fu*kye$!" (Fuck Yes)

21-7: So you said, sometimes you wish you were a boy because, for them, it's all about blowjob's and rocking the trash-stash. But we know you love being a girl 10x more- what would you say are the perks of having a vagina?
K: [laughs] Umm.. everything. Except for the blow jobs and ability to grow a sick stash. Girls got the power. And if you know how to use it we can get anything we want without ever even having to put out. Boys are so easy once we train them.

21-7: We gathered some interesting words from your songs, use some/all of them to create something creative; Loose lips, Breath, Fate, Backstabber, Trust, Boys, Joy, Rough, Sex Life, Crazy, Manipulate, Emptiness, The City, Flashback, Shot of Whiskey

Loose lips coming back to haunt you like a bad trip but dont waste your Breath it's your Fate 'cause now everybody knows your such a Backstabber. Trust, but dont trust Boys and rely on Joy from Rough Sex and a sick Life. Don't let it drive you Crazy. Once you Manipulate any sort of Emptiness and flip it to your favor. This City can't bring you down. Remember... Flashback... this is all a shot in the dark like this last Shot of Whiskey.
