Total farm and forestry receipts were over $5.50 billion for the year

Cash receipts from farm commodities totaled $4.10 billion, versus $3.55 billion the previous year.

The top five farm commodities for cash receipts were: (1) poultry, (2) cattle and calves, (3) greenhouse, sod, and
nursery products, (4) cotton and (5) peanuts. Together they make up 90 percent of the total commodity receipts.

Livestock and poultry accounted 82% of the cash receipts and crops the other 18%.

Poultry made up 66 percent of the total cash receipts for all commodities (excluding forestry).

Alabama ranked 3rd in broiler production with marketings of 1.05 billion birds.

Laying flocks produced 2.10 billion eggs to rank 13th in egg production.

Cattle inventory on January 1, 2005 was 1.32 million head and the state ranked 26
