Dr. Gabriel Badea-Päun


Portrait of the Artists Wife and a Friend, by Antonio de la Gandara

Dr. Gabriel Badea-Päun was born on January 20th, 1973, in Sinaïa, Roumania. He is now a French residant. In June 2005, he earned his doctorate "cum laude" in Art History at the university of Paris IV Sorbonne, defending his theses on "Antonio de La Gandara (1861-1917), the catalogue raisonné of his painting and drawing works". Professor Bruno Foucart directed his research. In October 2000, he earned his master's degree in art history, with first class Honors, working on "The portraits of Hohenzollern family byPhilip de Laszlo", under Professor Bruno Foucart supervision. He had first studied History at the University of Bucarest, in Roumania, where he graduated and then completed his post-graduate studies, researching "The diplomatic relationships between the Royal family of Roumania with the European dynasties, 1880-1914", under the direction of Professor Ion Bulei.

  • Curator of the exhibition and co-author of catalogue Fotografie si Document. Relatii româno-canadiene în primele decenii ale secolului al XX-lea, at the National Museum of Art of Romania : Photography and documents. Romanian-Canadian Relationships in the first twenty years of the 20th century. July 1st-August 1st 1998, organized together with Romanian Academia Library, the Romanian National Art Museum and the Ambassady of Canada in Roumania.
  • Curator of the exhibition and co-author of catalogue - Principesele Române, (The Princesses of Roumania), May 12-29 1994, exhibition organized with Mrs Ioana Cristea at the Museum of History and Art of Bucarest.
  • Curator of the exhibition, no catalogue Elisabeta, Doamna si Regina României 1843-1916, (Elisabeth, Princess and Queen of Romania, 1843-1916), November-January 1993, exhibition organized with Adrian-Silvan Ionescu.
