The Journal of Imaging Science and Technology

Objective: The pages of the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology provide the imaging community documentation of a broad range of research, development and applications in imaging. The selection of papers reflects the role of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) as a window on imaging, promoting communication and understanding across the boundaries of the many disciplines involved in modern imaging.

Content: Typical issues include research papers on comprehensive reviews on a variety of topics within the imaging field. In addition, in the spirit of fostering constructive scientific dialog, the Journal accepts Letters to the Editor commenting on previously published Articles. From time to time the Journal features a Special Section with a group of related, usually invited, papers introduced by a Guest Editor. Imaging research topics that have coverage in the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology include:

  • Digital printing technologies including ink jet and thermal printing
  • Materials and processes of electrophotography
  • Chemistry of photosensitive materials including silver halides
  • Image capture media and technologies including digital cameras
    • Image archiving and image permanence
    • Image analysis, interpretation and quality
    • Prepress and printing technologies
    • Hard and soft displays
    • Color image science
    • Digital fabrication
