Fair Game Logo

Fair Game Fair Game is not the preserve of just one association but belongs to Shuttlecock sport as a whole. People play to participate and enjoy the game – two considerations that are often more important than winning. Bending the rules and foul play are unsporting and ruin the enjoyment for all involved. The generic concept of fair game is a fundamental part of the game of Shuttlecock. Coaches, players, referees and supporters all have a role in upholding the principles of Fair Game. Fair Game has a fundamental role in sport and there is a need to apply it to all sporting activities.

ISF's Fair Game Campaign is represented by the slogan "My Game is Fair Game".

The Ecoflag has become the symbol of these actions and serves to unite the individual efforts of these different groups into a global initiative.

Shuttlecock a vigorous physical exercise

Shuttlecock HistoryRecords date Shuttlecock kicking, Ti Jian Zi origin as far back as the Han Dynasty (206BC - 220AD). This game prevailed during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), when shops specializing in shuttlecocks business appeared. In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), formal competition of shuttlecock kicking was held. In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), shuttlecock kicking reached its climax in terms of both making technics and the kicking skills. Besides, it’s convenient to play, for only a very small area is needed to kick the shuttlecock, and it can be practiced just about anywhere and anytime.

7th World Shuttlecock Championships

The International Shuttlecock Federation (ISF) is pleased to inform you that the 7th World Shuttlecock Championships will be hosted in Hochiminh City, Vietnam in July 2013.

All International Shuttlecock Federation members are welcome to send teams to participate. The Executive Committee Meeting and General Assembly of the International Shuttlecock Federation will take place at the same place during the world championships.

Untill now the ISF Secretariat got the confirmation from 11 countries that they wish to participate in the 7th World Championships, namely Greece, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, France, HongKong China, Bulgaria, Finland and China.

The opening ceremony of the 26th World University Games (WUGs), also known as the Summer Universiade is held on Friday night August 12 in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. With the slogan of “Start Here, Make a Difference”, the Shenzhen games attracted more than 7,800 athletes from 152 countries and regions across the world. It will be the largest-ever games in the history of Universiade.

Shuttlecock Sport is very popular in Shenzhen. In more than 100 schools students practice shuttlecock every day.

6th Shuttlecock World Championships

The 6th Shuttlecock World Championships, that was hosted by the International Shuttlecock Federation (ISF) and was jointly organized by the China’s National Administration of Sports, China Shuttlecock Association, Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau, Zhongshan Government and Xiaolan Government was completed with great success on July 13th, 2010 in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City, south China’s Guangdong Province. More than 160 top men and women Shuttlecock Sport athletes from 14 countries (China, Macao, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Hungary, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Taipei, India, Italy, Indonesia) participated in the 6th Shuttlecock World Championships in seven events, men’s and women’s team, men’s…

New ISF Executive Committee

In compliance with Article 26 of the ISF Statues, a new Executive Committee of the ISF elected at the 6th ISF Executive Committee Meeting and Congress, on July 10th, 2010.

The ISF Executive Committee is composed of 1 president, 3 vice presidents, 1 secretary general & treasurer, 2 deputy secretary generals and 4 executive committee members and Sub-Commitees. The meeting was attending by delegates from Bulgaria, China, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Hong Kong SAR of China, India, Macao SAR of China, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam and observer delegates from Indonesia, Mongolia, Italy and Japan.

Vietnam Shuttlecock ball proposition

The rules of ISF clearly define that the shuttlecock ball is made by goose feathers. However, Vietnam suggested the use of Vietnam style synthetic shuttlecock balls in 7th World Shuttlecock Championships just for sponsoring reasons.

Vietnam will provide some of Vietnam style shuttlecock balls to every member to test, and every member should send a report to ISF ‘s secretariat about the result of testing, together with their opinions, until December 2010.

If most members agree, Vietnam style shuttlecock ball will be used only in the 7th World Shuttlecock Championships.

1st Official Referees body of ISF

The 1st International Shuttlecock Referee Traning Course was completed with great success on July 10th, 2010 in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City, south China's Guangdong Province. 35 Top level Referees applied and after a 2 days team training and the official examinations organized by the International Shuttlecock Federation the first ever ISF's Referee Body was formed.

All the succeded Referees received an International-class referee certificate issued by the ISF; that is approved as the highest referee title by the International Shuttlecock Federation, the Shuttlecock Federation of Europe and all the Countries Members of ISF.

Official Shuttlecock Sport Rules

The Official Rules of the Shuttlecock Sport was made by the collaboration of Professors Zhang Guilen, Liu Tianshi and Wang Jun with Mr. Iordanis Stavridis, Mr. Ilias Zioris, Mr. Dimitrios Katakalaios of the Greek Shuttlecock Federation under the strict supervision of the Chinese Shuttlecock Association and the International Shuttlecock Federation secretariat. Latest additions and corrections was made by Mr. Pekka Marjamäki and the Top European Referee Mr. Terzopoulos Konstantinos. The purpose of the Official Shuttlecock Sport rules is to provide guidelines to best describe how Shuttlecock Sport is played. Official ISF Members

In compliance with Article 5 of Chapter 2 of the ISF Statues, there shall be only one Member of the ISF from each country or region.

Also stated in Article 3 of the same Chapter any national or regional association which has been recognized as the governing body of the sport of shuttlecock within its country or region by the overall governing body of the sport, if any, of that country or region and whose statutes are not inconsistent with those of the ISF may apply to the ISF to be a Full Member.

The Official Featherball

The Official Featherball used in the sport of Shuttlecock consists of 4 equal length goose or duck feathers conjoint at a plastic base. It weights approximately 15 grams. The total length of the ball is 15 to 18 cm. The feathers vary in color, usually dyed red yellow, blue or green. However, in competitions the white colored featherball is preferred.

Jianzi (chin.: Jiànzi 毽子), Ti Jianzi (chin.: tījiànzi 踢毽子) or Jianqiu (chin.: jiànqiú 毽球) is a traditional Asian game in which players aim to keep a shuttlecock in the air using their feet and other parts of the body (but not hands, unlike the similar games peteca and indiaca). The game, which goes by many different names, may be rules-based on a court similar to badminton and Volleyball, or be played artistically, among a circle of players in a street or park, with the objective to keep the shuttle ‘up’ and show off skills.
