Alert and Updates

12 April 2009

Peltier family members want Peltier transferred closer to home, specifically to FCI Oxford (WI). Peltier's security rating has been greatly reduced by the Bureau of Prisons in recognition of his model behavior for the past 30 years, making him eligible for transfer to a medium security facility.  Please keep up the pressure on the U.S. Department of Justice to transfer Leonard to Oxford.  Today and every day, make your voices heard. Send your letter by FedEx, fax or e-mail.

Re: Leonard Peltier #89637-132

Dear Mr. Holder,

I am writing in support of a transfer for Mr. Leonard Peltier, who is currently incarcerated at USP-Lewisburg.

Last August 20, Leonard Peltier submitted a request with his Case Manager, to be transferred to Oxford FCI, a medium security facility. Leonard Peltier’s has 16 points making him eligible for Oxford according to Bureau of Prisons policy. He has served 33 years on two life sentences and is 64 years old, with health problems.

We have written letters to the DSCC and the Director of the BOP, and no action more than acknowledging receipt of our letter has been taken. Therefore, I am writing to you directly to bring about Leonard Peltier’s transfer.

We would appreciate your prompt attention on his behalf. Thank you.

Sincerely,
