Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

  1. So how exactly do I contact someone at ABC?

If you have a question or comment for us, try yelling out the window as loud as you can. Maybe we'll hear you. If that doesn't work, check our Questions & Answers section on ABC.com regarding an inquiry you may have about ABC's Primetime and Daytime shows, as well as our Movies and Specials.

For specific inquiries not answered on the website, contact our Audience Relations department.

Questions can also be submitted via regular mail or by phone to:

    ABC, Inc.
    500 S. Buena Vista Street
    Burbank, CA 91521-4551

    (818) 460-7477 (standard connection fees apply)

We no longer accept messages via carrier pigeon, due to the high cost of cleaning the statues out front.

Due to the high volume of correspondence we receive regarding ABC programming, we just can't individually respond to every audience inquiry. We do, however, value your comments and suggestions. Seriously! What you say shapes what we do. So please keep saying it!

  2. Looking for info about your local ABC station?

  3. Interested in becoming a member of the studio audience during the taping of an ABC show?

Click over to our guest tickets site to contact the appropriate ticket agency listed for each show. All tickets are free! Unfortunately, tapings of ABC soap operas and ABC primetime dramas are not open to the public. We've tried to get in, but someone keeps locking the door.

  4. Have some questions regarding ABC News?

Please use the links on the abcnews.com website to properly direct your questions.

  5. Have some questions about ABC Sports?

Check out their very own sports fan-friendly website.

  6. How do I get a job or internship at ABC?

    For general employment inquiries:

Please go to www. disneyabcjobs.com and apply according to the posting.

    For Internships:

Please go to www. disneyabcjobs.com/internships.html and apply according to the posting.

We offer paid internships only. Our internship salaries range from $8.50-$16.00 per hour, depending upon the position.

Due to the volume of resumes the Disney ABC Television Group recruitment staff will only contact you if interested in interviewing you for a specific position. We will retain your resume in our applicant database for future consideration.

  7. Where do we send fan mail to our favorite ABC stars? And can we get autographed photos?

If you want to send a "shout out" to an ABC star or ask for an autographed pic, check out our list of shows below and mail your letter directly to the show's production company. We found out the hard way that this process works best when you put a stamp on the envelope before you drop it in the mailbox.

Please understand that autographs and autographed photos are handled by the respective talent, and as such, ABC cannot guarantee the rate or time of individual response.

Break a leg! (That's show biz jargon.)

  10. Where can get info if my favorite show gets preempted or simply goes MIA?

ABC tries to provide a range of regularly scheduled news, sports and entertainment programs to the public. Specials, as well as breaking local/national news coverage enable us to broaden our scope.

While we do our best to avoid preempting shows, our full programming schedule prevents us from guaranteeing if/when a program is re-aired. The best advice we can give you is to check your local listings and ABC.com whenever something unexpected pops up.

  11. Wondering why ABC changed the time/day of your favorite show?

Scheduling decisions are made after careful thought and much analysis. Our goal is to match the right program with the most receptive audience. Although we realize that not every decision will please everyone, we welcome comments from viewers because they further help us understand how our programs are being received. As we've said before, your opinion counts. So stay on us!

  12. Wondering why your favorite show was cancelled?

Hey, we've all been there. Some of our favorite shows depart with a rousing series finale, others disappear without warning. Believe it or not, we're just as bummed as you are when this happens.

The challenge of network television is to keep pace with constantly changing tastes of the viewing public. Should one of your favorite shows leave this world all too soon, we sure hope other programs on ABC's schedule compensate with many hours of viewing pleasure. We've also found it helpful to wolf down a pint of your favorite ice cream while in mourning.

  13. Where can I find out what ABC shows are available in High Definition Television?

We all know Hi-Def totally rocks. ABC is one of the broadcast leaders in HDTV. ABC continues to program all of its primetime comedies, dramas and movies in HDTV, as well as a number of specials and sporting events. Check out the schedule page at ABC.com for all your HDTV favorites.

  14. Which ABC shows are closed captioned?

    They all are. 'Nuff said.

  15. What ABC programming is available in Spanish?

ABC's regular primetime entertainment line-up is available in Spanish through Closed-Captioned subtitles or a Spanish audio track via the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) system. Some folks around here are just now saying, "Oh…so that's what SAP stands for?"

  16. What are ABC's guidelines for unsolicited submissions of story ideas or concepts?

Unfortunately, ABC and The Walt Disney Company's long-established policy does not allow the network to accept for review or consideration any ideas, suggestions, or creative materials not solicited by us or our subsidiaries. Our intention is to avoid misunderstandings when projects are created internally which might be similar to submissions made to us from outside the company. We think you'll agree that this policy is in everyone's best interest.

  17. How do I stop you guys from sending me all those mobile phone and/or text alerts?

Hey, we don't like receiving unwanted messages either. So, you can either stop charging your phone so the battery dies and you'll never know the alerts are there or you can simply punch in a "stop code" using the following list as your guide:

ABC Message Boards

  1. How do I keep from getting the boot off the ABC Message Board? (I.e., What are the rules?)

Whether this is your first time online or you're a seasoned pro, we've spelled out our house rules for you below. Generally speaking, these rules simply require respect and good manners. Use common sense and you'll feel right at home.

    OUR SPECIFIC HOUSE RULES ARE:

    1. We live by words online, so we don't allow obscene, racist or sexually explicit language. We also reserve the right to remove postings that defame or insult anyone, and notes that are abusive or hateful. Any harassing notes or postings that might be construed as stalking will be deleted and made available to the proper law enforcement officials. We also reserve the right to remove notes that are off the subject or not in English. So in other words, just be cool.
    2. No solicitations or advertisements are allowed. This includes advertisements for your business or latest get-rich-quick scheme. Such notes add clutter and devalue conversation.
    3. You may not suggest or encourage illegal activity. ABC.com will assist law enforcement officials, so don't even think about it.
    4. You must have copyright ownership of all material that you post on our bulletin boards and in our chats. No articles, recipes, song lyrics, art or graphics may be posted without the express written consent of the copyright holder.
    5. You must respect the privacy of individuals. This means no posting of phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers or any other private information.
    6. Good manners online means that you don't post the same note more than once. The online word for posting many times on one topic is "spamming." We don't allow that.
    7. You participate at your own risk on the bulletin boards, in chat and in e-mail. You take responsibility for postings under your identification and use the information provided here at your own risk. ABC.com takes no responsibility for the content or opinions posted here.
    8. ABC.com reserves the right to remove any postings (although it has no duty to do so).
    9. By posting to any portion of ABC.com, you agree to abide by ABC.com's Terms of Use.
    10. Use your common sense and have a wonderful time at ABC.com.

  2. What's with this fancy schmancy-looking new board?

Relax, ABC.com is just getting prettied up and upgrading its message boards this summer. The new message boards are the first step in this process.

  3. Hey! Why can't I see the boards or post a message or log into my account?

Shoot us any technical problems here and give us as much of the lowdown as you can about the issue.

  4. I have a few genius ideas on how you can improve the boards.

Let ABC.com know! Send your suggestions here.

Feedback

  1. Having trouble? Have a suggestion? Just want to say hey? We wanna hear from you!

Due to the amount of feedback we receive, we can't respond to everyone individually. But that doesn't mean we don't love you! Please provide your email address so we can contact you for more information should we need to.

If you're experiencing a problem, please provide as much detailed information as possible. The more you can tell us about your computer, the problem, any error message(s) you've received, and what you've already tried, the easier it will be for us to get on it.
