in memoriam: Richard Hart Vara, 1924 - 2006

Dick Vara first published "Dover Days Gone By" in 1976. Even though this publication has been out of print for several years, he refused to authorize a reprinting. He always said that it was just too full of errors and omissions. So he continued to research and collect.

When he passed on in early 2006, a brand new version, which had been on his own website for nearly 10 years, was almost ready to publish. Some of is identical to the 1976 version, but it is full of new and interesting information.

The Historical Society hopes to take those final steps to publication ... but in the meantime, please enjoy this "Cyber-Millenium Edition" and remember Dick as you do.
