Top KHL squad killed in passenger plane crash in Russia

At least 43 people have died in a Yakovlev Yak-42 passenger plane crash near the city of Yaroslavl in Central Russia, 270 kilometers north-east of Moscow. The majority of victims were members of the local ice hockey team Lokomotiv.

KHL season opener stunned by Yaroslavl tragedy

The opening of the KHL’s fourth season has been marred after a passenger jet carrying members of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team crashed near the Yaroslavl airport.

The Russian Emergencies Minsitry has published a list of passengers and crew on board the Yak-42 that crashed outside of Yaroslavl, killing at least 43 people. Two people have survived and remain in critical condition at a local hospital.
