Geometry Unbound
This is the web site for an e-book entitled
Geometry Unbound, by
Kiran S. Kedlaya.
This book is being made available through an open-source copyright
model (the GNU
Free Documentation License), which permits the free distribution
and modification of the book, provided that such permission is
also granted to distributed copies. (This cascading permission
is a principle known as
copyleft.)
This web site is set up to distribute the book in both "compiled"
and "source" form (in compliance with the GFDL), and to provide
various ancillary materials. Note that not all of the ancillary materials
are presently under the GFDL; our intent is for that to be remedied at some
point.
GFDL Material
-
Geometry Unbound version of 18 Jan 2006
(PDF, TeX; no figures)
Non-GFDL Material
-
The book is based on a set of
notes from August 1999 that I used to distribute
via the American Mathematics Competitions
website. These retain a traditional copyright; the GFDL only applies to them
via this book.
- In 2005, Marcelo Alvisio created
Geometer's Sketchpad renderings
of some of the missing figures from the 18 Jan 2006 version.
I'm not sure whether these can be placed under the GFDL, because they
are in a propriety software format.
- Sometime around 1999, Reid Barton created a set of solutions for the
August 1999 notes; these were updated in 2005 by Marcelo Alvisio. I plan to
post these at some point.
