You
will learn how computing and information technologies are rapidly changing
the way engineering design and analysis are practiced in industry. To
increase productivity, traditional drawing-and-calculator-based methods are
being replaced by computational engineering tools, or CAD/CAE,
including drawing software, solid modelers, finite element analysis
software, mathematical packages, kinematics simulators, dynamic simulators,
etc. Using current real-world industry problems, you will gain hands-on
experience and problem solving skills critical to your success as an
engineer in the computer age. Computer-Aided Design is the first
section of the new computational engineering course series. The second
one, Computer-Aided
Engineering (12 units) is offered in Spring semesters.
