GEORGE TAKES CORNISH ASSEMBLY CAMPAIGN TO DOWNING STREET

West Cornwall’s Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George will lead a delegation to 10 Downing Street today (Wednesday 12th December) to present 50,000 declarations calling for a Cornish Assembly.

Mr George and representatives of the Cornish Constitutional Convention – Bert Biscoe, Richard Ford, Dick Cole, David Fieldsend and Andrew Climo Thompson – will present the declarations at 4pm.

The Convention is leading the campaign for a Cornish Assembly and more than 50,000 people have already pledged individual declarations supporting the campaign.

The delegation to 10 Downing Street coincides with a Commons debate taking place in Westminster Hall this morning on Regional Government in the South West, where Mr George intends to speak up for the Cornish case.

The Government is expected to publish its White Paper on Regional Government in England in the coming weeks.
