Stonefish Naval Ground Mines

The Stonefish range of naval ground mines from BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies combines the advantages of microelectronic technology with modular design. Using the latest, more energetic PBX insensitive munitions technology, coupled with an advanced Safety and Arming system.

Warstock mine

Using inputs from acoustic, magnetic and pressure sensors, an electronics module provides target assessment. Intelligent software enables Stonefish to be programmed via a presetting unit to compare the signals of potential targets with pre-defined characteristics. An attack will then only be initiated when these criteria are met.

Drill practice mine

A low-cost training variant is available for handling, transportation, programming and preparation training, enabling optimum operational effectiveness.

Assessment mine

Used for gathering ship signature data to update target characteristics and assist with programming, the Assessment mine is a sea bed unit. A shore station, which also contains simulation and analysis facilities, controls the mines via a cable link.

Exercise mine

The Exercise mine uses the same sensors and processing algorithms as the Warstock mine, recording the acoustic, magnetic and pressure influences and indicates when the mine would have been fired. An acoustic telemetry link controls the unit after deployment and commands the recovery process.

To the latest standards, Stonefish draws substantially on the BAE Systems software experience.  The Company's ability to model mine warfare using its advanced computer simulations has contributed significantly to the lethality and effectiveness of these products.
