Andy Williams' music has always been popular since his success in the 50s; in the late 90s he had another hit with the ever-popular "Music to Watch Girls Go By". He will be performing his new album and some of his classic pop hits at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on Thursday 5 July 2007. He is 80 years old this year but is as popular as ever, with young and old fans attending his concerts. He says of his continued appeal, "I like music. I have always been interested in new music – although I can't quite get into rap." Lifetime of hits Andy has recorded an astounding 18 Gold Albums, and in his career has performed with the likes of Ray Charles, Elton John, Ella Fitzgerald, Simon and Garfunkel, Mama Cass and Michael Jackson, to name but a few. He has played a diversity of musical styles such as Country, Pop and Jazz, and has had his own TV show as well as starring in a number of films. He even has his own theatre, the Moon River in Branson, Missouri, at which he has been performing for the last 15 years since its opening in 1992. Smooch music The greatest love song, according to Andy, is "Moon River", which was a hit for him in 1962. "I've always done Moon River, because I think people would be disappointed if I didn't do it. I still love it." Andy says of his enormous back-catalogue, "There's no one song that can exemplify everything that I'm supposed to be as a singer…. I've done all kinds of music. My new album is a range of songs that I've liked over the last 15 years that I've not recorded – they're all different." Critical praise U.S President Ronald Reagan said Andy's voice was a national treasure. So who does Andy think are the great voices of the future? "Michael Buble is good... some of the country-pop singers, like Shania Twain - those are some singers that I think are terrific." He says of his current tour that he will be playing hit UK songs such as "Solitaire", "Can't Help Falling in Love With You", and "Home Lovin' Man", as well as new material from his current album, "I Don't Remember Ever Growing Up".
