Types Of Snowboards
The types of snowboards have changed a lot from the early days. One of the biggest reason snowboard design has changed so much is because riders have changed or progressed the way they approach the mountain. There are so many different Snowboarding riding styles that snowboard manufactures started designing boards specific for certain riding styles.
Don't Get Confused By All The Different Types Of Snowboards, Here are a few points that you should address before choosing your snowboard.
Beginner or Novice?
This is where you need to honest with yourself, don't lie to yourself, because it will only hold you back as a snowboarder. If you consider yourself a beginner or novice than you are probably better off riding a reverse camber snowboard (aka rocker snowboard). WHY? Because reverse camber snowboards release from the snow more easily and therefore are easier to turn.
Intermediate or Expert?
If you are an intermediate or experienced rider than you probably have your own riding habits, which means you know what you want out of a snowboard. The better you get, the more aggressive you ride. Which is why beginner snowboards have always been softer than boards geared towards experts. You go bigger and faster and need a board that can handle it. Traditionally, camber snowboards has always been the answer. But with the invention of the reverse camber or rockerd snowboards many of the world's best snowboarders are changing their views about what is the best board to ride.

Snowboards Kinked Between The Feet
With the kink in the middle of the board the tips of the snowboard will release more easily, but when pressed flat the tips do make contact and help hold a straighter line and offer more power out of the tips. Better than a camber snowboard if riding powder and it is the most stable of all reverse camber snowboards on hard pack.
Snowboards Kicked Up Outside The Bindings
These are boards are the most "freest-feeling" snowboards you will ride. Since the tips are kicked up the board feels a lot shorter than it is. Put these boards on edge and you will have the whole board to work with, but the short contact to the snow makes these boards the best for jibbing. These are the best snowboards for riding powder because of the upward angle of the tips.
Camber Snowboards

If it isn't broke don't fix it...camber snowboards are still your best choice for powering through turns, tracking straight, and for stability on speed runs.
Dead-Flat Snowboards
Forget about Camber or Rocker, these boards are flat
As if there wasn't enough confusion between camber and reverse camber now there is deal flat snowboards. These boards don't have the free feeling of rocker snowboards or the aggressiveness of camber. They are right in the middle. Good for speed runs, pipe, and jumps.
