Commonwealth of

Va. Code
Ann.
§ 44
(Michie 1989), the
Virginia Defense Force supports
the Virginia National Guard
by:

Assuming
control of National Guard
facilities in the event the
Guard is
mobilized
-
Assisting in
National Guard
mobilization
-
Supporting
National Guard units in
providing family assistance to
deployed soldiers and their
families
-
Performing
tasks currently performed by
the National Guard to protect
life and property should the
Guard be
mobilized
-
Performing
tasks unique to the
post-mobilization
environment
-
Providing other
military service as directed
by the governor
Defense Force
members are
volunteers,
and are paid only
when called to state active duty
by the governor.

for Apple Blossom
Festival

other support for the upcoming
Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival
in Winchester Virginia.
