Nonverbal body language tells all. Body language is a way that we communicate with each other through body movement. It is something we do all the time, sometimes consciously and sometimes unconsciously. Our whole persona is revealed in the way we move, how we stand, how we tilt our heads or gesture with our hands: you get the idea. We are doing it all the time.

Sometimes we put on an act, pretending to be something that we are not. We may put on an act of bravado when in fact we are shaking like crazy inside. People can see that, and they create an impression of you.

Sometimes people instinctively like or dislike another person simply by reading his or her body language. Even if they are lying, their body is still telling the truth. That is because of the signals that the body is automatically transmitting.

Your Body Is Like A Radio That You Cannot Turn Off.

The messages that your body sends out is an indispensable element in your social interaction. Even before you speak to the person across the room, they know more about you than you may have thought. If they saw you enter the room or if they are watching as you approach, they are picking up the signals that you are sending out.

Some people are aware that the way they act has an influence on the other party and they try to act the way they want the other person to see them. Sadly, all too often, their body is not saying what they want it to. They think their body is doing one thing when in fact it is doing the opposite. It is like dancing with two left feet. It just does not work.

You Need To Tune In To Your Body.

Imagine the timid person putting on an act of confidence. They know they have to stand straight with their shoulders square. Unfortunately, their head goes too far back, showing arrogance and their eyes are darting in every direction, showing they are nervous.

They are not fooling anyone.

Facial expressions, especially around the eyes and mouth, can tell a lot more than you imagine. Your body movements can amplify, modify, confirm, or subvert any verbal utterance, expressing meanings that elude or surpass verbal language.

When someone is looking at the speakers mouth, is it because they want to kiss them or because they do not want to look them in the eye?

Misinterpreting The Signal Can Give Wrong Results.

Body language is very subtle and can only be read by looking at the whole body - the face, the posture and the gestures. Looking at one of these in isolation is misleading since they all combine into an overall message.

Reading a person wrong can land you in big trouble, and that is what happens to most people. They misinterpret the message and they lose out.

Understanding Body Language Will Give You the Competitive Edge

To have success at whatever you do throughout your life you must exude confidence. Everyone loves a confident person. Confident people are comfortable in any situation. Confident people attract opportunities like a magnet. Everything seems to go their way.

If you want the same opportunities, if you want to have the

competitive edge, you need to understand body language.

Look at a few instances where understanding body language would be successful:

  • Job interviewee: you want to get this great job. You know the technical stuff, but you never seem to be able to land the job – no matter how many interviews you have. How you conduct yourself during an interview is crucial. If you are the interviewee, you need to give a good impression of yourself. Understanding body language will help you land that great job.

  • Job interviewer: you have a job vacancy to fill. You have narrowed the list down to a possible three candidates. If they all have presented similar resumes, which one do you choose? Knowing how to read body language will help you make the right choice.

  • First date: imagine going on a first date and being a nervous wreck. Your date wants to be with a confident person not a nervous person. By understanding body language you will learn how to make your body give out signs of confidence.

  • Negotiator: perhaps you want one of those great jobs of negotiating a deal or event to get someone to come down off the ledge, knowing what the other person is thinking is to your advantage and you will be able to preempt the next move.

  • Poker player: Knowing whether the other players have good hands or bad, often shows up in their movements, hand gestures or nervous twitches. It is having the ability to recognize the signs and act accordingly that will win the game.

Bodies Give Silent Messages

Have you ever been in a room, at a party or conference, when someone walks in the room? Everyone seems to say, “Who is that?” It is because of the message that they are putting out. All of a sudden, everyone wants to know them or be associated with them. That person has the advantage over everyone else in the room. It would be great if that someone were you. Well, it could be. We have courses that can help you be that person.

There are two elements to understanding body language

  1. The message that you send from your body
  2. The message that you receive - and interpret – from someone else

Knowing both of these is going to give you a tremendous advantage over anyone around you. Notice that I said “anyone around you” and not “anyone you meet”. You do not need to meet a person for them to create an impression about you. The more people who know of you and talk about you, the greater your chances of success become.

Learning Body Language

The first step to success is to learn what your own body has been telling everyone for years. Knowing this is going to greatly benefit you. It will tell you exactly what other people think of you, whether you like it or not. It is better to know; otherwise, you will blindly go through life not knowing the truth. Body Language School's course will show you how to make subtle changes that will improve your chances of success.

You Can Change The Message Your Body Language Is Telling Everyone.

The second step is to learn what others are telling you. Remember, the body tells the truth. It makes no difference if the other person is acting brash or coy, confident or not, you will know the truth. This is a great advantage to you in any situation.

Learning body language is fun. Watching what others are doing and saying and measuring the responses of the people they are talking to, is a great form of entertainment. Learning should be fun. The more entertaining it is, the easier it is to learn. The more you learn, the more successful you will become.
