South Pasadena, one of the oldest
cities in Los Angeles County, California, is abundant in history
and tradition. The city was incorporated on March 2, 1888 as
a general law city. South Pasadena's famous tourist attraction,
the Cawston Ostrich Farm, operated from 1896-1935. The Rialto
Theater, which opened to the public in 1925, is currently listed
on the National Register of Historic Places. South Pasadena currently encompasses 3.44 square miles and has a population of approximately 25,000. It is situated between the cities of Los Angeles and Pasadena. The City of South Pasadena is known for its tree-lined streets, historic California Craftsman style single family homes and its excellent public schools. Operating under the Council/Manager form of government, public input is actively sought by the city. Community involvement is part of the small town charm that makes South Pasadena one of California's most desirable locations in which to live and work. |
