CUR Fellows Award Nominations

The Council on Undergraduate Research proudly announces the CUR Fellows Awards Program, a program to honor deserving faculty and to celebrate undergraduate research.  These awards recognize CUR members who have demonstrated sustained excellence in research with undergraduates.  In addition to achieving significant research results, a CUR Fellow will also excel at helping undergraduates develop their research talents and skills.  Recognizing that significant and meaningful research-related activities with undergraduate students can take many forms, the selection committee will use the following criteria for selecting awardees:

·        active CUR membership
·        sustained involvement of undergraduates in research
·
publications with undergraduate co-authors in peer-reviewed journals
·
extramural support for research
·
presentations by undergraduates at regional or national meetings
·
admission of students to postgraduate programs
·
evidence of outreach to minority or under-represented groups
·
incorporation of research activities and experiences into courses

The first two CUR Fellows awards were awarded at the CUR National Conference, June 22-24, 2000, hosted by The College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio.  The second round of CUR Fellows awards will be presented at CUR's 9th National Conference.  Connecticut College will host the Conference June 20-22, 2002.

With generous funding from an anonymous donor, the awardees will receive $1,000.00, a plaque of recognition, and will present a general lecture on their research.

We seek your assistance in nominating meritorious colleagues.  Nominations should include a recent CV from the nominee and letters of support from the nominator, a colleague, and two former students.  Nominations will open September 1, 2001 and close October 30, 2001.  Please check back between these dates to access the on-line form.

Thank you for your assistance!
