BREAKING NEWS: Just moments before the jurors took their seats, Deputy District Attorney John Lewin came into the audience where many of Julia "Deede" Keller's friends and family were sitting. Hurriedly, he told them Erwin Howard's attorney just said he was changing the defense to killing in the heat of passion -- meaning Howard, her ex-husband, now admits he killed Keller, but did not have the intent to murder her. So what's new for the El Camino football team this year? A better question might be, what isn't new? Gone is the Mission Conference, which became defunct when the Southern California Football Association was formed. El Camino now is in the National Division's Central Conference, which is under the SCFA umbrella. And oh yeah, just about every first-stringer on the roster will be a first-time starter for El Camino.

USC players get their first weekend off in more than a month, but instead of welcoming the rare break, the top-ranked Trojans are preoccupied with what happens the following week. Although the game is eight days away, and USC usually focuses on opponents slowly, the Trojans readily admit an obsession with the impending arrival of third-ranked Ohio State.
