Rugby Club

Since its foundation in 1986, the ADFA Rugby Club has been one of the largest and more prestigious of the sporting clubs. The ADFA Rugby Club has made its home in the Academy Cadets' Mess, where we demonstrate our club's enjoyable and exciting personality, and our excellent social reputation for hospitality within the wider rugby community.

Dowsett Oval is where we as a club pour all our blood, sweat and tears. From here every Saturday you can find each person putting all their effort into a team that forms some of the most close-knit mates that can be found within any sporting club at ADFA. From the very first pre-season competition game, to the culminating event in the New Zealand tour, the 2007 season will be full of excitement, entertainment and fun.

1st XV

As the highest level of rugby within the club, this is the team that everyone aspires to. The best 15 members of the club are selected from a training squad at the start of the year and their jerseys are presented at the Rugby ball in April. That's not to say the positions in the 1st XV are secure, the rivalry for positions remains fierce throughout the season.

Under 20's 2nd XV

The under 20's side is the transitional team between the 1st XV and Colts. This team is the development squad that keeps the 1st XV on their toes. The under 20's is a strong competition and is a step up from the Colts competition.

Under 18's Colts

Aimed at developing younger and less experienced players, the under 18 competition is extremely tough while allowing players to gain confidence in the sport within a safer environment. Formed from the majority of the first years within the club, the Colts have formed the foundation for the club's future development. With solid results by the Colts over the last a few years, the Under 18 competition remains a strong and exciting part of ADFA Rugby.

Women's XV

The ADFA Rugby Club has a strong women's team that competes in locally in the ACT. The women's rugby team is getting stronger by the year and has gained a reputation amongst their competition as a team to be respected on the field.
