KTP Associate in Chemistry of Microbiological Enhanced Oil Recovery

Chemistry Department

Knowledge Base Supervisors:

Dr. Andy Whiting and Dr. Chris Greenwell

Company Supervisor:

Dr. Bob Eden

Ernesto is working as Knowledge Transfer Associate with Rawwater Engineering Company Ltd (RECL) and Durham University. He manages a strategic project to develop and implement tools and methods to identify and monitor water injection chemistries to increase oil recovery through down-borehole bacterial activity.

This KTP will extend RECL skill base to facilitate the detailed chemical and biochemical characterisation of injection waters and produced reservoir fluids. Moreover, this KTP will develop for RECL the analytical chemistry expertise required to carry out the analysis associated with this new market.

Ernesto is gaining work experience in an important area with high potential. Playing a key role within the company and taking on early responsibility.
