Business lady, gorgeous woman…Kylie Minogue launched her first perfume called Darling, a charming chypre-floral with an oriental base. Top notes include sweet and luscious fruits: passion fruit, lychee harmonized with freesia. Delicate bouquet of lily and boronia are in the perfume’s heart while an oriental base is composed of sandalwood note, amber wood and vanilla. Perfume was created in 2006 by Thierry Wasser from the Firmenich perfume company. Watch an advertising video for Darling by Kylie Minogue.

Wow, i cannot wait for the new dazzling darling one to be released!!!
As for this one its mouthwatering and delicous, its a scent that you cna't get enough of! Not too sweet, not too dark, just perfect! Emma x
I don't really like it.. It's not my taste. This is definitely a mature scent & I don't get any of the fruit, all I get is floral powder. If you like powdery scents, then perhaps this is for you, but they're certainly not for me. As for longevity, I say it is average. Lasts 4-5 hours.
I love this so much its one of my fave perfumes. I think you can really smell the lily in this very much I think it's a lovely fresh kind of fragrence. :D xoxo
Smells a bit like Gucci Rush!
This perfume smells ok but theres nothing too special about it. I personally much prefer kylie's sweet darling, cos it smells more like cotton candy.
it´s just me.. or this fragance is very simmillar to fantasy britney spears!?
Having 30ml unopened bottle for a swap. Just PM me. :)
A very Girlie scent - Although as many of the reviews say it is overly sweet! However as it wears through the day it does mellow.
Not great but not bad!
High point would be the long lasting scent.
very floral and sweet. the most important, quite cheep
I do remember the sweet and artificial smell.
Was really sweet and sickening and it smelled so synthetic on my skin.
It was like somebody tried to combine too many candies in just one fragrance.
It's not really that hideous after a while but I did not find it special in anyway.
Maybe it did not work on my skin...
a very mature scent. i dont like it that much, i was bought for me as a gift so i will use it but only as a room spray or after a night time shower.
I love it for work...not offensive......but the staying power is disappointing!
In my opinion, this is a hugely underrated fragrance by the wonderful Thierry Wasser and Ms. Minogue. Yes, it goes on sweetly synthetic, but nothing as bad as others may make it seem. The true beauty of the perfume is the way it wears and it’s progression. The quality and the mastery of its creator makes itself apparent in this regard. As some have noted previously, the middle is where this one starts to shine (largely due to the freesia giving away to lily and then boronia mixed with a light vanilla) and then ends in a gorgeous base that is absolutely delightful and lasts for many, MANY hours.
I indeed hold this fragrance in very high regard. This is one that I think many wrote of for being a “celebrity scent,” and that is really a travesty as it is so much more than that. Any fan of Thierry Wasser should check this one out - make notes and study.
Overall: 4 stars (minus one ONLY for the overly sweet top).
I was very disappointed when I tested it. I'm a Kylie fan, I thought her first fragrance was to be very amazing but it was not, not at all. Darling is too common. The other Darling fragrances, and other Kylie perfumes, are better.
I love Gucci rush and wanted something similar and I found it. This is it. only with a better price tag. If you are old fashioned you wont like it. This is pure sexiness in a bottle. You are not sexy you can't wear this. Long lasting too and it gets better by time. Not for L'Air de Temps type of gals....
Patience is needed with this perfume (this goes for other perfumes).
The opening was powerful and woody at first and slowly moved unto a sweet but mildly fruity floral scent.
The sweet floral scent lingers for a good amount of time and elegantly moves onto the floral notes.
The floral notes slowly dissolve into the a form of floral wood notes.
The end note is still floral woody with a teaspoon of sweetness, a gentle sweetness.
This is a wonderful perfume for all ages and will suite an elegant or casual occasion. I wore this perfume to a late night Lido show in Paris, I got a lot of compliments ;)
It's a nice scent, but quite ordinairy.
I don't think it's a scent to wear at night, as it's pretty fresh and floral. And it lasts really long! I would recommend it for a beach party. The scent is not too serious and it makes you feel girly and young.
I don't think that Darling is an ageless scent. It's meant for young girls who are discovering their sexuality and love to be in the spotlights.
I like it, but I'm not a die-hard fan.
I hate this fragrance, it just has a horrible smell right after spraying it on, I guess it's the boronia as I don't remind having smelt anything like this before... disgusting!
tooo strong and syntetic
It's a little bit sweet compared with other fragrances and maby too floral, but I like it.It's an everyday girlish perfume
The very nice scent.
I always avoided scents from this shelf . Something induced me about and I tried this. Is very pleasant and has a note which reminds to me sisley Eau de Soir in the modern and younger edition . Super , the revelation for this the price. I have deo perfumed because is more delicate , more subtle.
This is flowery niceness in a bottle, just like Kylie looks: ageless, tiny, pretty, pleasant. It's one of the timeless happy ones that doesn't offend anybody. I have to add that the most enjoyable part for me was the succulent passionfruit scent in the opening.
It was nice for one summer but I would not go for a second helping.
My identical twin sister, Ladiesred, has this perfume.
First impression comes the pure but gentle sweetness of the passion fruit and litchi, it is delightful!
Then comes this floral smell along with a trail of vanilla that is extremely light. This scent is not strong but is favourable for the summer season, as it really brings you into a powdery and pink champagne taste. The final effect is a rose-tinted lenses feeling. ^_^
Remember when you were a child, long before you started using perfumes yourself...your mother put her lipstick on, sprayed some perfume on her neck and you smelled it when you hugged her before she went out? That smell that represented perfume when you were a child, thats how Darling smells like.
Its a weird combination of cliché perfume scent and the smell of make up. Reminds me of some kind of Barbie perfume.
The lasting power is very poor. After 30 minutes its gone. Darling is a weak fragrance and not very impressive.
Its a shame because the other Darling perfumes are very good, especially Sweet Darling.
Darling bomb shelled me with a powerful woody/oud scent that left me feeling bewildered. After 5 minutes the scent settles down to a mildly woody/floral sweet scent. A scent of hidden alien fruits teases my nose, interesting.
I have never tasted nor smelled passion fruit or litchi, so this is a surprise for me.
It reminds me of a warm humid afternoon where a young girl is getting ready for the nightlife at the beach in the East to meet her friends or a boy she just met.
The scent is floral, woody and mildly powdery leaving one feel mature at first impression, yet young with charm.
This perfume is unique and I am surprised that it brought many "darling" compliments. ^_^
surprised this is classed as chypre as it's the usual fruit laden sugar syrup to me. Bratz doll, bottled.
It's been a while since I've sniffed Darling, but from what I could remember about the opening notes, I just thought instantly: mouthwash, with a few flowers thrown into the mix. For me, it smelt absolutely rotten. Few are the fragrances that have the power to send me reeling back in disgust and olfactory-induced nausea. Darling is one of those perfumes.
This one at first is really weird, but then it become something really nice sweet but not overpowering very femenine, the lasting power is not too good but it stays like 3 hours on my skin, the price is good.:)
I got this as a gift, and I liked it as it is sweet but not too overpowering. I like the lychee and vanilla, it has a familiar feel to it and it also smells a bit like violets on the initial spray. I wouldn't have chosen this for myself, but it makes a nice feminine gift and I have been wearing it everyday in the warmer weather. Only disappointment is it isn't as long lasting as I would like it to be :(
Update: I used this up, not a bad perfume, but did not like it enough and won't be buying another bottle. I felt the passionfruit note alot more after months of wearing this, which gave me the impression of laundry/fruity sweat... so a change of heart about this one, didn't suit me.
I tend to buy perfumes I have never smelled before, just for the surprise element I get with the first spritz...it's always been interesting...but this perfume might make me rethink this habit. It went from that smell perfume gets when it's gone bad, to spicy, to sweet, to powdery, to a bathroom cleaner aroma and then on to sour lemons. Thankfully it lasted only about 15 minutes on my skin before disappearing. What a roller coaster ride of horror scents. Bad, very bad.
Glamaorous, sweet, stylish and delightful fragrance. Very unique and gorgeous.
Olfactive notes formula =
Rotten apples + stale Candy Floss + Old Fashioned Candy Shop + Artificial Sweetner + Headache + Nausea
Don't know why Im complaining, smells just as pretentious as she is.
it smells god like it, its not ceap mmmmmmm
This most be one of the worst smells ever!Smells cheap, like a barbie perfume..
Hi, I bought it based on the fragrance notes. I was dissapointed because it wasn't very strong. Smelled a bit cheap.
You can definitely smell the fruitiness in this.It is very girly and summery but I would be more likely to wear it to a special occassion than every day.
I can smell a bit of fruit in this, but mostly it just smells like an old-fashioned, extremely powdery floral to me. Would probably make a decent perfume to wear to work if it was your thing, but it's not mine.
From watching the advertisements, I figured that Darling would be reminiscent of the 90's and have a certain type of class and elegance. However, this was not so.
Upon first spray, Darling was quite sour and common. I could detect the passionfruit and the litchi, but to me they weren't an appealing blend. Interestingly though, the scent when settled on the skin for a few hours became quite pleasant and soft. Perhaps it was the vanilla in the base that made me sit up and take notice.
Unfortunately there is nothing about Darling that stands out from the crowd. While the base is likable, the rest of the fragrance leaves nothing to be desired.
Knowing that the perfume was created by Thierry Wasser of Firmenich ( responsable with Calvin Klein Truth and Christian Dior Addict) a decided to buy Kylie Minogue's Darling.
The first impression, when I sprayed this perfume on my skin was of a tropical fruity blend with green floral notes. After a while it starts to open, revealing an oriental twist in a form of a amber- woody scent.
I expected Darling to be much stronger and aromatic, knowing that is a chypre. A chypre needs to have 5 facets: citrus, floral, woody, mossy, amber and/or musk.
Darling is sweet and pretty, but I think that it does not represent me, not Kylie.
Certainly not my signature perfume.
If you didn't know Darling is used to scent Kylie Minogue’s figure at Madame Tussaud's wax museum in London.
The fragrance is a bit disappointing, because as I know Kylie's personality from her songs, photos and videos, she is a very youthful, sophisticated and sparkling woman. This fragrance doesn't reflect it.
As I smell this fragrance I could associate it with an old-fashioned granny! Maybe this fragrance reminds her the mother that's why it's 'darling' for her?
I would suggest it for ladies who like to make experiments - maybe on different skins it smells lovely? Or for mad fans of Kylie who would not use it just put between the Kylie CDs and posters.
The bottle is strange, I don't really agree with the romantic, soft-shaped bottle with a very masculine and modern cap.
To my nose Darling is a nice cross between Deci Dela and Gucci Rush.
Darling has floral & sweet fruity notes, and it’s very easy to wear. The EDT is inexpensive & I like the old time glamour of the bottle (It's modelled on her smile). Plus It’s non-cloying & inoffensive to my work colleagues.
But there is nothing to make Darling stand out from the crowd. We’ve all got these notes already with other fragrances. Plus, it's very sickly in warmer weather.
I find it very ‘safe’ & there's nothing individual about this fragrance. Nothing to recommend a re-purchase. Also; the lasting power is very poor.
I don't like it
its abit too strong
and overpowering too
this scent wery strong
Too sweet for me and not enough special. I don't like. It doesn't works on my skin.
well, it is true that there are so many people with just as many different opinions. It took me quite a while to get to like this scent, because I usually don't like perfumes you like on the first smell. This one is not like other scents, it is quite sour and strange, not sweet, but has something in it. Like Lanvin's white perfume-you could easily say it is yuk!, but still it has something extremely attractive, that drives me to it, time after time, again and again. One time, I decided to test it and I put one of Givenchy's perfumes on one hand and darling on the other-everybody who smelled them immediately decided that they liked Darling, and that the other one was very usual. That was when I decided to buy it. Even though I don't like "star" perfumes, this one is not one of those sweet-smelling-watermelonish-girlie perfumes.
Too strong for me....and frankly makes me sick. Too sour....doesn't work with my chemistry.
that one is not unique you feel u smelled it from long ago :(
I suppose it was supposed to be a more sophisticated celebrity scent, different than the usual gummy floral. However, it's not balanced. The beginning is very spicy sharp, not very pleasant to my nose, but it fades away after 15 minutes. So what's left is a very long lasting not very high quality floral which I didn't like.
not unique and not the best ever, but among kylie's scent its the best
For the first time ever: This fragrance smells like hairspay!
not very original but very nice and girlish and sexy. i would recommend it for spring or summer. lasts quite long
