South Africa Joins Seven Nations in Backing the IFFIm; Life-Saving Support for Millions of World’s Poorest Children 25 April 2006 - The Government of South Africa announced today that it will contribute US$20 million over 20 years to the International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm). Denmark Commits DKK 25 Million to Immunization Programs 14 March 2006 - Ms. Ulla Tørnæs, Minister for Development Cooperation, announced Denmark will commit DKK 25 million (US$4million) for 2006 to global immunization programs through the GAVI Alliance and its partners. This gift, announced at the Copenhagen Panel on Key Challenges for Global Health Partnerships, is Denmark's fourth and largest contribution to GAVI. Queen Rania Visits Delhi Children’s Hospital to Encourage Immunization 11 March 2006 - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan visited the Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital today to meet with patients and hospital workers to celebrate the health system advances in India in recent years and draw attention to the country’s increased efforts to bolster nationwide immunization coverage. Brazil Announces Support for Global Immunization and IFFIm 9 March 2006 - President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has announced that Brazil will contribute US$20 million over 20 years to the International Finance Facility for Immunization (IFFIm). 3rd GAVI Partners' Meeting 7 - 9 December 2005 - New Dehli - With unparalleled donor support through traditional funding and innovative mechanisms such as the IFFIm, the Alliance must continue to show that immunization is a powerful tool in the fight against poverty. The Partners’ Meeting provides a collaborative forum critical to GAVI's future progress, and will also mark the launch of GAVI Phase 2, which will combine past best practices with groundbreaking programmes geared to strengthen health systems and reach more children with vaccines.
