In its first road trip of the season, the Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (3-0-0) defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 2-0, Sunday evening. Sophomore Farryn Townley and senior Tinamarie Lutizetti each picked up a goal for the Matadors, while freshman Brielle Slepicoff registered the only CSUN assist. (MORE)

Answer "We were trying to carry over success from spring, where we finished play undefeated. Heading up to Berkeley, it was important for us to continue momentum. Cal is good team and they played very well. Fortunately, we were able to pick up the victory without really playing our top game."

Men: Ben Cox, Soccer
Ben Cox, a senior midfielder for the Matadors' men's soccer team, scored the winning goal in CSUN's 2-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Aug. 31. He found the back of the net in the 40th minute of the game, He now has three career goals.

 
 

Women: Angela Hupp, Volleyball
Angela Hupp earns the gomatadors.com student-athlete of the week honors after leading CSUN with 27 kills at the Bronco Invitational. She finished the three-game tournament, where CSUN recorded a 2-1 record, with a .153 hitting percentage and she also had 32 assists.
