Most buildings of historical interest in Gilān have been repeatedly repaired and rebuilt. Some have clear records of their history, but most lack reliable, primary documents, and one has to rely on a variety of indirect evidence, such as the dates engraved on entrance doors or tombstones to reconstruct part of the past of a given edifice.

Part two includes topics such as the climate of Fārs, its flora and fauna, agricultural products, the position of Fārs according to longitude and latitude, the problem of cartographic projection.

Fascicle 3 of Volume XVI
The most recent fascicle in the print edition of Encyclopædia Iranica was published in June 2017. This fascicle continues the development of letter “K” topics. It begins with the concluding section of the entry on the Hungarian scholar SÁNDOR KÉGL and ends with the beginning of the entry on the KEŠĀʾI DIALECT. Major articles in this fascicle include a series of entries related to the cities of KERMAN and KERMANSHAH. Several of these articles are already available on this website and others will be added soon.
