Jefferson Airplane

Jefferson Airplane’s debut show was on August 13, 1965 at the Matrix nightclub in San Francisco.

Jefferson Airplane performed at the Berkeley Folk Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, and Altamont. They had hit singles White Rabbit and Somebody to Love, from the album “Surrealistic Pillow”.

The band featured: Grace Slick (vocals), Marty Balin (vocals and guitar), Paul Kantner (vocals and guitar), Jorma Kaukonen (guitar), Jack Casady (bass), and Spencer Dryden (drums).

October, 1965 – Grace Slick makes her debut w/ the band, replacing Signe Anderson
July, 1967 – White Rabbit hits #8 on the US charts, also becoming a million seller.
August, 1969 – The band performs at the “Atlantic City Pop Festival”, Atlantic City, NJ, before an audience of 110,000.
August, 1969 – Airplane headlines the second day, by now early Sunday morning, of the “Woodstock Music & Art Fair”, Bethel, NY.
September, 1972 – Jefferson Airplane’s last gig.
January, 1996 – Airplane inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
