Formerly with Oulton Raiders and Hunslet Parkside amateur clubs, Jason signed for the Leeds Rhinos Academy in 2001.

Whilst in the Junior Academy, Jason played a major role in Leeds Grand final success in 2003; a game in which he scored a hat-trick of tries. Indeed such was his form in 2003, that Jason was selected for the Great Britain Under 18 side that went on to beat Australia for the first time at that level.

With little opportunity of first grade rugby at Headingley, Jason moved on loan in 2006 to York City Knights in National League One. Jason’s performances in the York pack were immediately recognised and at the season’s conclusion Jason was elected into the National League One Dream Team and was voted National League One “Players Player of the Year”. Jason’s performances in 2006 consequently attracted attention from Super League clubs and in 2007 he signed for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

A hard-tackling forward, who never gives less than 100%, Jason has been a favourite of the Belle Vue crowd. At the close of 2008 Jason was selected for Ireland’s World Cup squad, although sadly he was later forced to withdraw with injury.

Golden joined Harlequins at the beginning of the 2009 season and although he missed much of preseason training with a wrist injury, he enjoyed a comfortable transition into the London squad.

He was a regular starter throughout his first season for Harlequins and was an excellent ambassador for the club off the pitch. He was named 2009 Community Player of the Year for his work with the community team.

At the end of the season he was called up to the Ireland national squad for the 2009 European Cup.
