IMU President John Ball presents the
Gauss medal to Kiyosi Itô at a special
ceremony on September 14, 2006 in Kyoto.
Here is Kiyosi Itô's "thank you speech".

The Gauss Prize was presented to Junko Itô, the youngest daughter of the recipient, by King Juan Carlos of Spain. Kiyosi Itô could not attend the award ceremony for health reasons. Martin Grötschel, chair of the Gauss Prize Committee, announced the winner with a Power Point presentation [also available in PDF]. Before the Gauss Prize Lecture, that Hans Föllmer (HU Berlin) presented on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, Junko Itô read Kiyosi Itô's short "thank you speech" [also available in PDF].
