Datarock success

From its beginning as a band that few had heard of, Datarock has become a high-profile group that creates music for major players in the business world and for computer games.

The core duo of the Norwegian band Datarock, Fredrik Saroea and Ketil Mosnes from Bergen, perform irresistible disco rhythms and indie dance in matching red track suits. Among their sources of inspiration are Talking Heads and Happy Mondays. Their first album Datarock (2005) was recorded under their own label YAP (Young Aspiring Professionals).

Their second album "See What I Care" was released in 2007. That year, their single "Computer Camp Love" made the music magazine Rolling Stones’ top-100 list. Datarock has also produced music for commercials, computer games, TV series and films.

For example, one of the tracks on their first album, "Fa fa fa", was used in a Coca Cola commercial, and they have produced music for the computer games The Sims and FIFA. But the band’s most important assignment to date is for Disney; one of the media giant’s next films will feature music by Datarock.

The band has given concerts in Sao Paolo, Paris, New York, London, Roskilde, Sydney and Melbourne, among other places. In 2008, Datarock gave 40 concerts in six weeks – a record that will be hard to beat.
