A bank routing number is also known as an ABA (American Bankers Association) number and as a RTN (Routing Transit Number). It is a nine-digit number used to electronically move funds from one bank account to another. According to the American Bankers Association, there are around 22,000 routing numbers stored in a database currently in use.
