Staph Infections

Staph Infections are caused by a very common bacteria called staphyloccocus (aka "staph") which can be found on the skin of 30% of the human population.

Most infections occur when the bacteria enters an open wound on the skin.

Usually Staph Infections only cause minor skin irritations, but some cases are severe. Most pictures on this website show severe cases of skin diseases caused by Staph Infections and MRSA.

 

What is MRSA?

MRSA (pronounced "mersa) is a term used to describe certain strains of staph bacteria that are resistant to a antibiotics, including methicillin. MRSA can be a fatal and very difficult to treat.

MRSA (pronounced "mersa"), which stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, is an infection is caused by Staphylococcus Aureus. It's a strain of staph bacteria that's resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it.

MRSA is difficult to treat and can be fatal. The elderly and people with weakened immune systems have a higher risk of being infected with MRSA.
