State Magazine is published monthly, except bimonthly in July and August, by the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. State Magazine is published to facilitate communication between management and employees at home and abroad and to acquaint employees with developments that may affect operations or personnel. The magazine is also available to persons interested in working for the Department of State and to the general public.

Submission Guidelines
State Magazine is always looking for interesting news and feature articles about the Department’s mission, events and employees. For more information on how to get your story told, click here.

State Magazine also runs obituaries of State Department employees, spouses and children. For guidelines on how to submit and obituary, click here.

Subscription Information
State Magazine is available to all current employees through shipments sent to their office or post. Department of State retirees can have a copy mailed to them each month by notifying our staff upon their retirement. State Magazine is also available by paid subscription through the U.S. Government Printing Office at http://bookstore.gpo.gov.
