The Pastels open for My Bloody Valentine Wed 2nd July!

June 28th, 2008

The Pastels are very pleased to announce that we are opening for My Bloody Valentine this Wednesday 2nd July at the Barrowland Ballroom.  The last time we played with My Bloody Valentine was sometime in 1988 at Fulham Greyhound and they were completely amazing then.  We’re all fans of their music and we’ve stayed in touch with Kevin through the years - in fact he played with us on our last John Peel session and did a couple of mixes for us which we loved.  We were rehearsing today, taking bets on number of pedals which will be on display and just looking forward.  It’s the Barrowland so we’ll be playing early, maybe around 7:45pm or so.

Remember Remember to open on the 14th!

June 13th, 2008

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the excellent Remember Remember will open the first show at Oran Mor on the 14th (that’s tomorrow!). We’re not sure if it will be Graeme solo or if it will be the trio, but we recommend that you get there early. Should be on stage around 7.30pm.

West End Festival 2008

June 5th, 2008

Although the cat has been out of the bag for a few weeks now, we’d like to take this opportunity to formally announce our involvement in this year’s West End Festival in our home city of Glasgow. We will be playing 3 nights at Oran Mor, a converted church situated at the junction of Byres Road and Great Western Road in the heart of G12. The dates are:

14th June : Electric Chestnuts This evening will feature well known material presented in the full-on familiar manner. Expect electric guitars, loud drums, amplifiers, shouting. Support for this show will be the magical constructions of Remember Remember. A must see!
***SOLD OUT***

15th June : Acoustic Chestnuts This evening will feature well known material naturally suited to acoustic instruments. Expect acoustic guitars, slower songs, pipes, slippers, warmth and quietness. Support for this show will be provided by the fantastic Snowgoose. Not to be missed!
***SOLD OUT***

16th June : Live Obscurities This evening, as the name suggests, will feature slightly lesser known material presented in an electric format. Expect album tracks, b-sides, cover versions, the gnashing of teeth, the odd chestnut. Support for this show will come from the unique treasure that is The National Jazz Trio of Scotland. Be there early!
***SOLD OUT***

n.b. Oran Mor has a 10pm curfew; there is a club after all live music events. Usually doors will open at 7pm, the support will take the stage at 7.30pm, Teenage Fanclub will be on at 8.20pm (or thereabouts).
