Is my journey affected?

Thameslink Programme

The Thameslink Programme is here and it’s starting now! In the short-term this means 92 new air-conditioned carriages for the Thameslink route (rolling out during 2009). In the long term there will be increasingly more seats, more destinations, better stations, and - by the end of 2015 - a train through Central London every 2-3 minutes. The Programme will transform the service with the express purpose of relieving overcrowding.

But, let's be straight with you, it also means a huge amount of building and engineering work. It means no Thameslink route trains to Barbican and Moorgate after March 2009 - and even the temporary closure of Blackfriars Tube from next March for around 2-3 years.

During the Programme, there’ll be new routes to get used to, in to and through stations. We’ll suggest alternatives and tips to avoid the crowd; there’ll be helpful signage - and wherever possible - extra staff to guide you.

We'll do our utmost to give you the latest news about what’s going on and suggest how best to get you where you want.  It’s why we’ve created this special website. Please check it regularly!
