National team coaches to meet in Madrid

National coaches and technical directors from all 53 UEFA member associations get together in Madrid later this month to discuss football trends and the summer's FIFA World Cup.

The 9th UEFA Conference for European National Team Coaches will be hosted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in Madrid from 20 to 22 September and will be the occasion for all European national coaches to meet.

The national coaches and technical directors of UEFA's 53 member associations will be present at the three-day conference taking place at the Eurostars Madrid Tower Hotel in the Spanish capital (Paseo de la Castellana 261). This biennial event is a unique opportunity for the game's top international coaches to get together, discuss trends and issues, and exchange views in an informal open atmosphere.

Among the topics to be covered by delegates will be the 2010 FIFA World Cup from a European perspective, the success of Europe's teams in South Africa and the experience that the tournament gave the coaches. Also on the agenda will be World Cup statistics and awards, a presentation on the Spanish football school and a debate on the future of international football.

Media are welcome to attend the conference's opening session on Monday 20 September at 16.00CET. This preliminary session will feature welcome messages from UEFA president Michel Platini and RFEF president Ángel María Villar Llona. The working sessions themselves are not open to the media.

A closing press briefing will be held on Wednesday 22 September from 12.30CET, led by UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh, when the different views expressed and key findings will be presented.

Media representatives wishing to attend the opening of the conference or the press briefing must inform the RFEF in writing – email prensa@rfef.es before midday on 17 September, stating name, outlet and contact details.
