At the University of Vaasa, the Faculty of Public Administration is focused on administrative sciences. The main academic fields are Public Management, Public Law, Social and Health Administration, and Regional Studies and Sociology
The basic and applied research in the faculty is directed towards administrative and legal theory, comparative methodology, issues of public administration, public sector reforms, welfare services, governance, public management and legal basis and control of government and use of public power (administrative and constitutional law), and the structure, function and actors of regional economy.
The research work is carried out on the basis of comparative study method in all fields of administrative sciences of the faculty.
In the faculty it is possible to pursue studies leading to the following academic degrees
- Bachelor of Administrative Sciences
B.Sc. (Admin.) - Master of Administrative Sciences
M.Sc. (Admin.) - Licentiate of Administrative Sciences
Lic.Sc. (Admin.) - Doctor of Administrative Sciences
D.Sc.(Admin.)
The faculty offers lower (Bachelor's) and higher (Master's) academic degrees as well as scientific postgraduate degrees licentiate and doctorate. In general, the Bachelor's degree takes three years to complete and Master´s degree five years.
