Tucci
Screen Gems has set Stanley Tucci to star alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera in "Burlesque," the musical to be directed by Steve Antin.
Antin wrote the script, which was revised by Susannah Grant.
Donald De Line is producing through his De Line Pictures banner. Production begins Nov. 9, and the pic is set for a Thanksgiving release next year.
Aguilera plays an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds success in a neo-burlesque club reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse's "Cabaret." Tucci will play the manager of the Sunset Boulevard club and the best friend and confidante of Tess (Cher), a former dancer who takes the young girl under her wing. Pic marks Cher's first movie starring role in a decade.
Tucci is coming off "Julie and Julia" and "The Devil Wears Prada." He most recently starred for Screen Gems in the comedy "Easy A" and also stars in the Peter Jackson-directed "The Lovely Bones."
Tucci is repped by CAA.
