Seehafer winner in Vårgårda

Before the World cup race in Vårgårda,
not many would have guessed that Kori Seehafer, USA, would
be the winner. But, when given the chance, she took it and
was the first to cross the finish line.
Usually it’s Kori Seehafer’s job to help her team
mates, but in Vårgårda, as the race unfolded,
she was the one to play the leading role in the Italian team
Menikini-Selle Italia-Master Colors.
By far the victory in Vårgårda is the highlight
of her career. And a big surprise.

Emma Johansson a Swedish Winner?
The last two seasons have made Emma Johansson
a world class rider. Not surprisingly she’s considered
the top Swedish rider in the world cup peloton in Vårgårda.
Emma Johansson, AA Drink Cycling Team, a long-time
talent, now a top rider. Last year she finished sixth in the
road race in the world
championships in Stuttgart.

Many teams to Scandinavian Open
21 teams from six countries are now ready
for the Scandinavian Open
in Vårgårda on August 2.
The first race in Vårgårda is just days away -
on July 30 the UCI
Women Road World Cup comes to Sweden. The last race of the
bike week
in Vårgårda is the Scandinavian Open, an international
race for men
on the World cup course.

Time for bike week in Vårgårda |
This summer Vårgårda cycling club once again
will host an international bike week. The main event is of
course the 2008 UCI Women Road World Cup on July 30.
There will be a lot of festivities during the week in Vårgårda,
a town well known to both Swedish riders and their fans.

The world’s top riders to Vårgårda |
Once again the best female riders in the world are preparing
for Open du Suède in Vårgårda. On July
30 the UCI World Cup comes to Vårgårda for the
third time.
This year the race is held on a Wednesday. The reason for
that: the Olympic Games in Beijing. The Olympic road race
for women is held at August 10, therefore Vårgårda
cycling club decided to have their race on July 30, giving
the riders as much time as possible to prepare for the race
in Beijing.

Johansson – one of the best and ”hottest”
cyclists representing Sweden in the Olympics finalizes her
preparation for the Olympics in the World Cup race in Vårgårda
Sweden! |
Emma is one of the absolutely “hottest” names
in Swedish cycling sport. Born and raised in Sollefteå,
attended the high school for promising cyclists in Skara she
is now established in one of the best cycling teams in Europe
based in Holland. At the age of 23 Emma now is on the verge
to a big international break through.
Her motto in life is: “ a winner is a loser who was
willing to fail and get up, fail and get up, fail and get
up, fail and get up to WIN”!
With such motto it is only a matter of time when the big victories
will come. Maybe it will be in the exciting WC-races in Vårgårda
July 30 and August 1??!! Then of course we all would like
to see that followed up by a medal at the Olympics in China
a week later!

2008 World Cup
event in Vargarda – a milestone! |
Vargarda Cycling Club, Sweden proudly welcome
all World Cup cyclists to another top WC cycling event July
30 – Aug 1, 2008! Since the start 2006 the “Open
de Suede Vargarda” has grown to a highlight in the cycling
world both for the participating World Cup women cyclists
as well as for spectators and media. This is a real chance
to enjoy a real Classical!.
Big news
for 2008……….
In addition to the Road Race competition (July 30) UCI has
entrusted Vargarda to arrange also an exciting Team Trial
Race (August 1).
Some 200 of the top cyclist on the World Cup circus will come
to Vargarda Sweden to compete on the decisive courses. For
many of them it will be the last chance to prove themselves
for the Olympics in Beijing which then is only 10 days away.

The 2008 World Cup painting
The local artist Lars Göran Blom has produced a unique
painting for each World Cup event in Vargarda. He started
2006. The paintings are made in a very special technique typical
for Lars Göran Blom. The 2008 WC painting expresses competition,
speed and the colourful event that the yearly World Cup event
in Vargarda represents.
