@KazuoKiriyama666 Matsuno is now a freelancer, that's true. However, this means he can still work with his old team at Square Enix as he did on Tactics Ogre PSP. I hope he will work on the next FF game by Ito as the scenario writer and make an awesome story for the game. :-)

@Galvanizer67 Ito is also the director of FFIX, a classic in my eyes. He loves the old school Final Fantasy games and loves changing things on each Final Fantasy he made (FFXII being an example of his risk taking; getting rid of random battles takes balls, lets face it). I think Matsuno was only working on the Tactics Ogre PSP remake as a freelancer though, but I hope he can reunite with his old buddies; Iwata, Sakimoto, Minagawa, Yoshida etc. I wonder what Matsuno's next game will be?

@KazuoKiriyama666 Indeed, it would be amazing to have Matsuno working on FFXV. The first guy in this interview called Hiroyuki Ito hasn't been credited on a game since FFXII International came out back in 2007, so he must be currently directing FFXV as I type this. :-)

@Galvanizer67 Matsuno's team? They've just remade Tactics Ogre: LUCT and will hopefully make more entries into that series again, but hell, I'd love to see Matsuno and his team take another crack at Final Fantasy (they also made Final Fantasy Tactics, another brilliant game).

@jle717 The battle system in FFXII is one of the best in the series just for getting rid of random battles.
@CocaColaGuy123 What's wrong with him wanting to put an end to random battles? He's right to want to do that. One of the reasons WRPGs are selling more than JRPGs these days is because JRPGs are failing to evolve. FFXII tried to evolve the JRPG genre and kudos to the Director for attempting to do that by getting rid of random battles.
Well, it's confirmed that FFXIV is a MMORPG and being made by the team that made FFXI. Hopefully this means that FFXV will be made by the team that made FFXII.
