@applesweeter - I love your humour! You must be a stewardess really! I started flying as cabin crew in 1968, and packed up in 2004; the only job I ever had, and it was fab. I remember playing this the night before going to Singapore once (we went every few months) and my fiancee had just broken off our engagement. Imagine theemotions and self-pity!
Hearing this took me right back there. Wasn't Rick Wakeman involved with them?

1) As i pilot i can tell you, that the feeling you get when you are flying is freedom, is fascination, is beauty, is adventure, it's many things. It's another world up there.
2) Same as 1.
3) An airport, as the name says, is a port to the air. A port represents a gate to new places, to new adventures, to new things to discover. It's a node between where you are now and every other place. And besides, one can enjoy being there watching airplanes come & go, or just admire them :)

(2) Why does commercial flying is so amazing that we compose many so about it, including this "Airport Song"?
(3) Why do we enjoy to be at the airport?
